Wordfence
Why choose it: WordPress site owners and agencies that want firewall, malware scanning, login security, and multi-site security management.

Global network service providing CDN, DNS, WAF, DDoS protection and Workers edge compute.
Top-rated in Domain Registrars#1 of 11 in Domain Registrars by Overall Score
Cloudflare runs DNS, a CDN, Universal SSL certificates and unmetered DDoS protection for websites and applications, and all four are included on every plan, Free among them. Its web application firewall applies a Free Managed Ruleset on all plans, while the Cloudflare Managed Ruleset and the OWASP Core Ruleset start at Pro and Sensitive Data Detection is limited to Enterprise. Bot protection scales from Bot Fight Mode on Free to Super Bot Fight Mode on Pro and Business and a separate Bot Management subscription for Enterprise. Developers can deploy serverless code with Workers, which has a free allowance of 100,000 requests a day, alongside Durable Objects, containers and storage services. Accounts are managed from a web dashboard or the API, with integrations for WordPress and Shopify sites. Pro adds lossless image optimization, while Business adds PCI DSS 4.0 compliance features and a 100% uptime SLA backed by service credits.
Cloudflare evaluates custom WAF rules in a dedicated HTTP request phase before managed rules, while cache settings operate in another ruleset phase. A ruleset can target request paths or other HTTP attributes, allowing differentiated protection for login endpoints and public content. Account-level WAF management across zones requires Enterprise; zone-level rules are managed separately.
