What Is QuillBot?
QuillBot is a set of AI writing tools centered on its Paraphraser, which rewrites text in modes such as Standard, Fluency, Formal, Natural, Academic, Simple, Creative, Expand and Shorten, plus Custom modes defined by a short written description. A Synonyms slider controls how far a rewrite moves from the original wording, and clicking any word opens thesaurus suggestions. The Paraphraser works in more than 25 languages and four English variants (US, UK, Canada and Australia). Around it sit a Grammar Checker, AI Detector, AI Humanizer, Plagiarism Checker, Translator, a Summarizer that returns paragraphs, bullet points or custom summaries steered by chosen keywords, and a Citation Generator for APA, MLA and Chicago styles. QuillBot runs on the web, as Chrome, Edge and Safari extensions, inside Microsoft Word, as desktop apps for Windows and macOS, and on iOS and Android. Its main audience is students, academics and writers reworking existing text.
Best for: Students, researchers and content writers who rework existing drafts and want rewriting, summaries and citations in the same toolkit.
QuillBot is meant for reworking text that already exists, not for drafting long articles from a prompt. A writer typically paraphrases a passage, uses the Synonym Slider to limit how much wording changes, then runs the grammar and plagiarism checks and adds citations before submitting. Because the same tools work in the browser, the desktop apps, the Chrome extension and Microsoft Word, the editing can happen where the draft already lives.
