Hostinger vs SiteGround: Plan Limits, Caching and Staging

Hostinger and SiteGround both run managed WordPress hosting from their own control panels, but they hand out features at different plan levels. Hostinger's entry Premium plan hosts three websites and includes the Hostinger Website Builder, an AI-assisted drag-and-drop editor, and the company also sells KVM VPS plans with root access. SiteGround's StartUp plan covers one website and keeps staging, on-demand backups and Git for GrowBig or GoGeek. Every SiteGround site does get the SuperCacher caching layers, managed per site in Site Tools, and daily backups come with all three SiteGround plans.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which SiteGround plan do I need for a staging site?⌄

GrowBig or GoGeek. SiteGround says its staging tool is available on those two plans for WordPress sites, and you open it from Site Tools > WordPress > Staging. The StartUp plan does not include it, so anyone who tests plugin or theme updates on a copy first should budget for GrowBig at minimum.

How do I move an existing WordPress site to each host?⌄

SiteGround uses its free SiteGround Migrator plugin: you generate a migration token in Site Tools, paste it into the plugin on the old site and start the transfer. Hostinger's WordPress hosting page advertises free, unlimited migrations handled from its side, which suits owners who would rather not run the transfer themselves.

What does SiteGround's SuperCacher actually do?⌄

It runs three layers. NGINX Direct Delivery serves static files and is on for every site, Dynamic Caching stores full pages, and Memcached keeps database query results in memory. You switch Memcached on in Site Tools first, then enable it in the Speed Optimizer plugin. SiteGround notes that Dynamic Caching and Memcached only work for sites hosted with it.

Can I try either host before paying?⌄

Neither offers a free plan or a free trial in our verified data. Both pricing pages show a 30-day money-back guarantee instead, so the practical way to evaluate is to sign up, migrate a test site and request a refund inside that window if the setup doesn't fit.

Can Hostinger host projects other than websites?⌄

Yes. Its VPS line runs from KVM 1 to KVM 8 with full root access, operating system templates, a Docker Compose manager, n8n available for workflow automation and weekly automatic backups. Kodee, Hostinger's AI assistant, guides you through VPS tasks. SiteGround's shared plans covered here are aimed at managed websites.
