What Is Bitly?

Bitly is a web platform for creating short links, QR codes and link-in-bio pages, then tracking clicks and scans by location, device, referrer and date. Links can take a custom back-half and, from the Growth plan up, a branded domain. Destinations can be changed or set to expire after a link or QR code is already out in the world, and dynamic routing sends visitors to different pages by country, region, device or platform. A UTM builder tags campaign links, and bulk creation handles spreadsheet uploads on Growth and above. QR codes take logos, brand colors, patterns and frames, and a 2D Barcodes product adds GTIN data for packaging. Bitly also has iOS and Android apps, a browser extension, an API with plan-based request limits, and integrations with Canva, HubSpot and Shopify.

Best for: Marketing teams that print QR codes or share campaign links and need to change destinations and track engagement afterward.

Bitly treats links and QR codes as connected engagement assets, allowing offline placements and digital campaigns to be managed together. Brand-domain configuration matters when marketers want recognizable links, not default short domains. Link analytics are designed around engagement with destinations, not affiliate commission settlement or multi-publisher payout accounting.
