Top-rated in Shopping Cart Software#1 of 6 in Shopping Cart Software by Overall Score
Shopify is a hosted commerce platform: merchants get an online store, checkout and admin without managing servers or a separate CMS. Products, orders and customers sit in one admin that also feeds sales channels such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Google, Amazon and Temu, the Shop app and Shopify Collective, along with point-of-sale selling in physical locations. Shopify Payments handles card processing in supported countries; elsewhere, or for unsupported business types, stores connect a third-party provider. Shopify Flow, installed from the App Store, automates store tasks with triggers, conditions and actions, and plans above Basic can send HTTP requests from a workflow. Built-in analytics include more than 200 reports. Plans run Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus, with Plus adding full checkout customization, expansion stores, higher API limits and unlimited staff accounts. Merchants run their stores on the web and through iOS and Android apps.
Shopify manages the hosted storefront and transaction pipeline while its app ecosystem extends subscriptions, marketing and operations. The exact checkout and account customization available can depend on the merchant's plan and extension architecture. Teams should distinguish capabilities included in Shopify itself from those requiring separate paid applications.
