What Is Canva?
Canva is a template-driven design editor for social posts, presentations, video, websites, whiteboards, docs, sheets, emails and print products, available on the web, Windows, macOS, iOS and Android, with Canva Offline for working without a connection. AI tools draw on a monthly allowance and include Magic Layers, which splits flat images into editable layers, Style Match, image upscaling, image-to-video and Canva Code for interactive designs. Brand Kits store logos, colors and fonts: one on Free, five on Pro and up to 100 on Business, which also adds Brand Controls, design approvals and team invitations. Content Planner schedules designs to Facebook Pages, Instagram Business accounts, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Twitter, Slack and Tumblr. Enterprise adds SSO, SCIM, data residency, multiple teams and Canva Shield AI indemnity. Developers can build apps with the Apps SDK, and the Apps Marketplace adds third-party tools.
Best for: Marketing and social teams without dedicated designers who need on-brand templates, approvals and post scheduling from the same editor.
Canva's browser editor and shared brand assets lower the coordination required for non-design staff to produce recurring materials. Its collaboration and brand-control capabilities depend on workspace and plan choices; teams should define who can edit templates before using it as a distributed campaign production system.
