What Is Pingdom?

SolarWinds Pingdom combines synthetic monitoring with Real User Monitoring to track website availability and how pages perform for actual visitors. Its synthetic tools cover uptime, page speed, and scripted transactions such as logins and checkouts, while RUM can break performance down by visitor geography, browser, and device.

Best for: Web and application teams that want both simulated availability checks and performance data collected from real visitors.

Pingdom basic HTTP checks retrieve the HTML response and headers without executing page JavaScript, so a successful check is not proof that a client-side interface works. Monitoring locations are chosen by regional probe group, not an exact named city. HTTPS checks can also flag certificate errors, and an expiry alert can mark a check down independently of page reachability.
