What Is UptimeRobot?

UptimeRobot checks whether websites and services respond and alerts you when they stop. HTTP, keyword, ping and port monitors run on the Free plan at five-minute intervals, and paid plans (Solo, Team, Scale and Enterprise) add API, UDP, DNS, SSL and domain-expiry checks, heartbeat monitors, slow-response alerts and maintenance windows, with intervals down to 15 seconds on Scale. Heartbeat monitoring works in reverse: a scheduled job pings its own unique URL, and if no ping arrives within the interval plus a grace period, an alert goes out. Alerts reach email, SMS, voice calls, iOS and Android push, and tools such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord, Telegram, Zapier and PagerDuty. Hosted status pages are included, with custom domains on paid plans. UptimeRobot permits commercial use of the Free plan under its fair use policy, so freelancers can monitor client sites without paying.

Best for: Freelancers, agencies and small teams that want availability, SSL and cron job alerts without running their own monitoring stack.

UptimeRobot separates website, keyword, port and cron-job monitoring into distinct check types. The free plan runs website checks at five-minute intervals; shorter intervals and SSL certificate monitoring are paid capabilities. Its command-line interface can manage monitors, incidents and status pages from scripts or CI pipelines, giving developers another way to handle monitoring configuration.
