What Is Vimeo?

Vimeo hosts and plays video without ads, using a customizable embeddable player and privacy settings that include unlisted links, passwords and domain-level embed restrictions. Videos can be replaced without losing their URL or view count, and analytics show where viewers play, pause, rewatch and drop off. Paid tiers add features in steps. Standard brings lead capture forms, custom calls to action and text-based editing. Advanced adds live streaming with simulcasting to YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook or any RTMPS destination, webinars with registration, chat, Q&A and polls, and marketing integrations with HubSpot, Mailchimp, Constant Contact, Keap and Campaign Monitor. Enterprise adds SSO and SCIM, interactive video and team-level analytics. The screen recorder runs in Chrome, Safari or Edge and as a Chrome extension, with a teleprompter and text-based trimming. Vimeo also offers mobile apps and an API.

Best for: Marketing and communications teams that host brand video on their own site and run webinars or live events from the same library.

Vimeo keeps a video's URL and accumulated analytics when an editor replaces its underlying media file, avoiding broken links during client revisions. Access controls distinguish public and private videos on the free tier from unlisted, password-protected and domain-restricted videos on paid plans. Enterprise adds organizational permissions and single sign-on for larger internal libraries, separate from ordinary public hosting.
