VPN and privacy service pairing desktop apps, browser extensions, firewall controls, and configurable blocking.

What Is Windscribe?

Windscribe combines encrypted VPN connections with desktop and mobile apps, browser extensions, and a server-side blocking system called R.O.B.E.R.T. Users can choose locations, configure connection protocols, use the desktop Firewall to prevent traffic outside the tunnel, create custom blocking rules, and combine the browser extension with the VPN app for additional privacy controls.

Best for: Users who want a VPN with configurable content blocking and complementary desktop and browser privacy tools.

Windscribe's Windows split tunneling supports inclusive and exclusive modes and can match desktop executables or hostnames. Its documentation notes that Microsoft Store applications do not behave like conventional executables for those rules. R.O.B.E.R.T. supplies separate network-level domain filtering, enabling VPN routing and content blocking to be configured for different purposes.
