What Is GoDaddy?
GoDaddy registers domain names and sells the services built around them: DNS management, Managed WordPress hosting, a website builder, Microsoft 365 email and the GoDaddy Auctions aftermarket. Standard DNS covers A, CNAME, MX and TXT records for domains on GoDaddy nameservers. The Premium DNS upgrade adds secondary DNS, editable SOA records, extra DNSSEC credits and up to 1,500 records per domain, and every account starts with five DNSSEC credits. Auctions lists expired and investor-owned domains; members bid, while anyone can send an offer. Airo AI Builder generates sites, web apps and online stores from a prompt, with AI credits, GoDaddy Payments, shipping rates and a product catalog. A Domains API is open to any customer with an active domain, and accounts are managed on the web or in iOS and Android apps.
Best for: Small businesses that want a domain, email, DNS and a website from a single registrar account.
GoDaddy's domain API has a separate pricing path from ordinary retail checkout: availability searches show indicative amounts while a registration quote generates a short-lived price lock. The v3 API model can therefore matter to developers automating purchases, while most individuals buy through the regular domain search. Domain registration and aftermarket resale also follow different transaction workflows.
