What Is Squarespace?
Squarespace is a hosted website builder that starts every site from a designed template and is used for portfolios, small business sites, online stores and member areas, with iOS and Android apps for managing them. Four website plans are offered: Basic, Core, Plus and Advanced. All of them include online selling, subscriptions, abandoned cart recovery, point of sale and customer accounts. Basic charges a transaction fee on product sales and allows two contributors. Core and above remove that fee and add unlimited contributors, carrier-calculated shipping, discounts, payment plans and advanced website analytics. Email Campaigns is a paid add-on that applies the site's branding to emails and includes a visual automation builder, smart segmentation and unlimited contacts, with tiers set by monthly sends. Appointment booking runs through Acuity Scheduling, which is sold apart from the website plans. Developers can use Commerce APIs for orders, inventory, products, transactions, customer profiles and webhook subscriptions. Every website starts with a 14-day trial.
Best for: Creatives and small businesses that want a polished template-based site with a built-in store and branded email from one vendor.
Squarespace digital products use pricing plans attached to a course, gated blog, video page or member area. Visitors purchase access through a pricing-plan block or paywall button, and a qualifying website plan is required. As of July 2026, new customers cannot purchase the older standalone Digital Products subscription; website-plan tiers now govern the relevant fees and allowances.
