What Is Wix?
Wix is a hosted website builder where sites start from a template, a blank page or an AI-generated draft and are edited in a drag-and-drop editor in the browser, with iOS and Android apps for managing the site. Hosting is included on every plan. The SEO toolset has a setup checklist shaped by business type, location and Semrush keyword research, editable meta tags and robots.txt, automatic structured data on product and blog pages, a 301 redirect manager that imports up to 500 URLs from a CSV file, Google Search Console verification, server-side rendering and an AI visibility tool that tracks mentions in ChatGPT and Gemini. The Free plan carries Wix branding and has no custom domain. Light adds a domain and storage but no payments, Core adds online payments, basic ecommerce and scheduling, and Business and Business Elite expand store features, storage and collaborator seats. The Wix App Market adds third-party apps, and developer APIs support custom functionality.
Best for: Small businesses and solo owners who want to build and run a site, store or booking page without hiring a developer.
Wix Studio lets an agency grant a client content mode, where text and images can be edited without altering the page design. Its responsive layout editor cascades large-screen changes down to narrower breakpoints, with smaller-screen overrides preserved separately. Breakpoint definitions are per page or global section, not automatically shared across an entire site.
