What Is Webflow?
Webflow is a browser-based visual builder for designing, managing and hosting websites on a global CDN. Site plans run from the free Starter plan through Basic and Premium, with Team and Enterprise platform plans above them for larger organizations. The CMS stores structured content in Collections with custom and reference fields, and supports scheduled publishing, per-item publishing, RSS feeds and REST APIs for managing and delivering content. Animations can be built in the classic Interactions editor or a newer timeline editor powered by GSAP. Webflow AI can generate a site from a prompt, design new sections and create code components, and every site plan lists an MCP server. Localize, Analyze and Optimize are paid add-ons for translation, built-in analytics and A/B testing with personalization. Separate ecommerce plans add carts and checkout. Developers get webhooks, DevLink, React code components and Webflow Cloud for hosting full-stack apps next to a site.
Best for: Designers, agencies and marketing teams that want pixel-level control over a custom site and a structured CMS without managing hosting.
Webflow supports reference fields linking entries in separate CMS collections and multi-reference fields for many-to-many arrangements such as articles with multiple tags. Conditional rules can change text, component variants or visibility based on CMS fields and locale. Hidden elements are normally removed from the published markup itself instead of being hidden with CSS.
