What Is Framer?

Framer is a browser-based website builder where designers lay out responsive pages on a freeform canvas and publish them to Framer's own hosting. Its CMS stores content in collections that can be edited by hand or synced from Google Sheets and Notion through official plugins. The Localization add-on adds locales with translated page paths, an Automatic Locale redirect based on browser language and device timezone, and Auto Translate, which uses AI models to update every locale whenever canvas or CMS content changes. Built-in analytics feed Convert, an add-on for Pro and Enterprise sites that runs A/B tests with up to five variants per page and reports conversion funnels. Pro sites also get a staging environment, branching with previews, redirects and site search. The free plan publishes to a framer.website subdomain, and paid site plans connect a custom domain. Editors and content editors are added to a workspace separately from site plans.

Best for: Design-led startups and marketing teams that want to build, translate and test a marketing site from the same canvas they design in.

Each Framer publish creates a retained version that can be inspected and deployed. With a custom domain connected, the generated base domain can act as staging while the public domain stays on an approved version. Localization supports manual translation even after AI translation credits run out, so multilingual maintenance does not depend exclusively on automated translation.
