Zapier vs Make (formerly Integromat): Paths and Routers

Zapier processes triggers and actions with Formatter steps for changing incoming values, Filters for stopping irrelevant records and Paths for conditional routing. Make scenarios use modules connected through routers and route filters. Where Make differs most clearly is module-level error handling: it documents Ignore, Resume, Commit, Rollback and Break error handlers, and Break can retry a failed module automatically. That is relevant when a CRM API returns an error midway through a lead-enrichment sequence. Zapier imposes limits on nested Paths and does not allow one shared action after all Paths branches.

            Frequently Asked Questions

Can Zapier normalize contact numbers before CRM import?⌄

Yes. Formatter includes phone, date and text conversion tools and lookup tables. An automation can standardize lead fields before pushing them into a CRM action. Destination systems may impose their own validation rules even after fields have been normalized.

What if a Make API step fails?⌄

Make error handlers allow a scenario to skip a record, retry it, continue with substitute output or stop with different transaction behavior. The right choice depends on whether repeated actions are safe.

Do Make routers execute branches simultaneously?⌄

No. Make documents sequential route processing. A slow operation in one branch can postpone subsequent branches, a meaningful distinction for time-sensitive marketing automations. A delayed route can affect a later notification even when its filter matches correctly.
