What Is Buffer?
Buffer is a social media management app for planning, scheduling and measuring posts across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, YouTube Shorts, Pinterest, Google Business Profile, Mastodon, X and Substack Notes. Ideas and drafts live in the Create space, Publish runs the queue and content calendar, and Community pulls comments from supported networks into one inbox for replies. Insights reports cover reach, engagement and follower changes, with PDF and CSV exports on paid plans. Start Page is a built-in link-in-bio site, and an AI Assistant helps draft and repurpose posts on every plan. Buffer works on the web, in iOS and Android apps and through a browser extension. A free plan covers three channels; Essentials and Team are billed per connected channel, and Team adds unlimited users, approval workflows and access permissions.
Best for: Creators and small marketing teams who schedule across many networks, including newer ones like Bluesky and Threads.
Buffer lets a small team compose one idea and adapt the resulting posts for connected channels before placing them into queues. Its publishing, engagement and analytics capabilities serve a lean content workflow, but certain interactions still occur inside the social network itself. Channel connections and limits vary by account and plan.
