What Is Notion?
Notion is a connected workspace where pages, wikis and project trackers are built from blocks and relational databases. Database views include tables, boards, lists, calendars, galleries and charts, and Notion Forms write each response into a database as a new entry. On the Business plan, Notion AI adds Notion Agent for multi-step tasks, AI Meeting Notes with automatic transcription, and Enterprise Search, which answers questions using content from connected apps through AI connectors for tools such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, Jira and Linear. Public API integrations with GitHub, Figma and Google Drive sync data into pages. Notion runs in the browser and as apps for Windows, macOS, iOS and Android, with Notion Calendar as a companion app for scheduling. The Free plan suits individuals, while team controls such as SAML SSO, granular database permissions and private teamspaces sit on Business, and SCIM provisioning and audit logs on Enterprise.
Best for: Teams that want documentation, project tracking and intake forms in one shared workspace, with the full AI feature set available on the Business plan.
Notion combines blocks, documents and databases within the same workspace. A project record can link to meeting notes, a content brief or another database instead of duplicating that information in a separate task description. Because teams design their own structures, access rules and database templates deserve attention before a shared workspace becomes the source of record.
